What You'll Learn
- Read and write SELECT statements with WHERE and ORDER BY
- Move between Access's Design view and SQL view for the same query
- Build parameter queries that prompt the user for criteria
- Create calculated fields, and explain why calculations do not belong in tables
Real-World Scenario
A query built by a previous employee at Lakeside returns the wrong patients, and its Design view grid spans four tables with criteria scattered across a dozen columns. Read as SQL it is eight lines, and the error — a filter applied to the wrong table — is visible in about twenty seconds.
